Ask what this work costs around here and you will mostly get a shrug. The local companies talk about value rather than money, and the one guide that turns up for Barrie has the word Pricing in its title and not a single dollar figure in it. That is not an accident. Publishing numbers means being held to them.
So here are ours, taken off signed agreements rather than a calculator. They will not be identical to your quote. They will tell you whether to keep reading or stop wasting your afternoon.
The short version
Across the work we do, most projects land between $20 and $29 per square foot of glass, installed, with HST included. Everything on that range is finished work: material, labour, the crew, and the drive.
Two real jobs, both signed in July 2026.
- A house in Shanty Bay. Three panes of dual reflective on the front entrance and rear door, plus solar control on two bathroom windows. About fifty square feet of glass. $1,664.83 with HST. One visit.
- A property near McDougall. Whole home. Privacy upstairs, solar control across the main living area and kitchen and bay, plus security glazing on the lower level. About four hundred and fifty square feet. $9,124.75 with HST for the house grade, or $11,271.75 for the premium grade throughout. Three working days.
Those two bracket most of what we do. A few rooms is four figures. A whole home with more than one product on it is five.
Where that sits against the rest of Ontario
Published Ontario ranges for residential work run from about $8 to $28 per square foot installed, and Toronto guides quote roughly $8 to $25 for most jobs, with switchable glass in a different league entirely.
We sit at the upper end of that, and it is worth being straight about why rather than pretending we are cheap.
The bottom of those published ranges is a dyed entry-level product fitted by whoever is available, often with the install priced separately once the quote is accepted. We run a two person crew, we do not subcontract, the person who measures your glass is the person who fits it, and travel is inside the number. On a Muskoka job that drive is real money that somebody has to absorb.
If the cheapest possible square footage is the goal, we are not the answer and we will say so early. What we are competitive on is the finished job, once the quotes are read line by line rather than compared at the bottom.
The five things that move your number
1. Glass area, not window count
Everything is priced by area, so a single tall stairwell window can cost more than three small bedroom ones. Measure roughly before you call. Height times width, in feet, per window, added up. It gets you a far more useful conversation than counting openings.
2. Which product the room actually needs
Solar control is the least expensive thing we fit. Dual reflective privacy costs more. Security glazing costs more again because the material is far thicker. Switchable glass is in its own category and can be several times the price of anything else on this list.
The most common way a quote comes back higher than expected is a room that has been specified for switchable when a dual reflective covering would have solved the actual complaint.
3. Access
Ground floor glass you can walk up to is the cheap case. Anything needing a ladder inside a stairwell, scaffold, or a boat costs more because it costs us more in time and equipment. A lake property reached by water is a different job from a lake property with a driveway, and the quote will say so.
4. Interior or exterior
Most work goes on the inside of the pane. Exterior applications, which some glass requires, need a sealed edge perimeter to survive weather, and they can only be fitted between roughly April and October when surface temperatures allow it. Exterior work carries a premium.
5. What is already on the glass
Removing an old covering someone else fitted years ago is its own job. It is slow, it is fiddly, and it is quoted separately rather than absorbed. If there is something on your glass already, mention it on the phone.
The minimum, and why it exists
Jobs start at about $1,200 across Simcoe County and York Region, and $1,500 in Muskoka.
That is not a price per window. It is the point at which sending two people out for a day makes sense for both of us. Below it, the drive and the setup and the paperwork cost more than the work is worth, and you would be paying for our time rather than for glass.
The Muskoka number is higher because the drive is longer and because we plan cottage work to be finished in one trip rather than spread across several. We are not coming back next Tuesday for a pane we missed, so the day is planned properly and priced properly.
If what you need is one bathroom window, we will tell you that on the phone. It is a worse use of your money than it looks, and we would rather lose the call than take a deposit for a job that will not feel worth it.
What is included, so you can compare quotes properly
When you put two quotes side by side, these are the lines that make them different. Ours includes all of it.
- A site visit and a glass compatibility check before anything is quoted
- Material and labour as one number, not material with labour added later
- A two person crew, employed rather than subcontracted
- Travel inside the quoted price
- HST inside the quoted price
- Manufacturer warranty against bubbling, peeling, cracking and delamination
- Twelve months on our workmanship against installation defects
Two things sit outside it. Removing an existing covering is quoted separately. Where the electrical side of a switchable install needs a licensed electrician, that is priced in at the start rather than discovered on install day.
How to get a number quickly
Call with three things and you will get a useful range on the first conversation: roughly how many windows and which rooms, whether the goal is heat, privacy or security, and the age of the house. That last one tells us whether we are dealing with Low-E glass, which narrows the product options and changes the price.
A written quote follows a site visit and holds for thirty days. It is fixed for the option you choose and is not adjusted afterwards by the final measured area.
Nobody enjoys being the first company in a market to publish numbers. But you are trying to work out whether to spend money, and a page that talks about value while hiding the price is not helping you do that.
