Solar Control
The fix for west-facing rear elevations and south end sunrooms that run ten degrees hotter than the rest of the house. Cuts heat and glare while keeping the room bright and the exterior looking unchanged from the street.
Learn MoreHeat, glare, daytime privacy and security, handled on the glass already in your frames. We work just south of the city, so most Barrie sites get looked at the same week.
Barrie is fifteen minutes north of us, which changes what we can offer here. Most addresses in the city are inside twenty minutes. That means a site visit this week rather than next month, and if something needs a second look after install we are not fitting it around a two hour drive.
The city hands us two very different kinds of work. The subdivisions south of Mapleview and out through Ardagh went up with generous rear window packages, and a large share of them face west into full afternoon sun. The upstairs bedroom over an attached garage is almost always the room people call about first, because it collects heat all afternoon and holds it well past bedtime. Downtown is a different problem. The Dunlop Street storefronts and the units along the Bayfield corridor carry long glass frontages that take direct sun for most of the trading day, which fades stock in the window and makes the front of the shop unpleasant to stand in by mid afternoon.
Kempenfelt Bay adds something people do not expect until they live with it. The bay runs east to west, so late in the day the sun sits low and throws glare straight off the water into the Lakeshore Drive buildings and the homes along the north shore. It arrives at an angle no blind deals with properly. You can shut it out, but only by shutting out the reason you bought the place.
That is the trade we exist to remove. Everything we install goes onto glass you already own, and none of it asks you to give up the view to fix the problem.
Barrie jobs start at about $1,200. That is not a price per window. It is the point where sending a two person crew out for the day works for both of us.
A single pane is usually not worth your money or our time, and we would rather tell you that on the phone than after a site visit. There is no travel charge anywhere inside the city.

Learn MoreDual reflective coverings give you a mirrored exterior in daylight while you keep the view out. Common on ground floor rooms facing a sidewalk downtown. It reverses after dark with your lights on, and we tell you that before you buy.
Learn MoreA high tensile layer bonded to the inside of the glass. It holds the pane together on impact and turns a smash-and-grab into a slow, loud job. Popular on Dunlop and Bayfield frontages after a break-in on the block.
Learn MoreExisting panes that go from clear to frosted on command. We fit it to meeting rooms above the shops downtown and to ensuites in newer builds where a blind was never going to look right.
Learn MoreFrosted, fluted and gradient work for glass that needs to look deliberate rather than covered up. Storefront banding, house numbers, office partitions. It replaces the look of etched glass without the cost of etched glass.
Learn MoreReplacement is the default answer in this trade because replacement is what most companies sell. It means a tear-out, a custom order with a lead time, an install crew in your house for days, and a bill built around new units you did not need.
The glass in a Barrie home built any time in the last thirty years is sound. What it lacks is a surface that manages heat, glare or privacy. That is a coating problem, not a glazing problem, and it is fixed in hours on the panes you already own. Your frames stay. Your sealed units stay. Your warranty stays intact, because we leave the edges free to breathe rather than sealing them shut.

Most Barrie homes are a single day with a two person crew. A few rooms can be a morning. A whole home with privacy and solar work across two floors is usually two to three working days, and we give you the schedule before you pay a deposit.
We work on the glass already in your frames. Nothing is removed and nothing is ordered. The covering is applied to the surface of your current panes, usually on the interior, which is why a job that would take weeks as a replacement takes hours as a retrofit.
No. We are fifteen minutes south of the city, so there is no travel charge anywhere in Barrie, from Painswick to Letitia Heights. Quotes for Barrie addresses are the price of the work itself.
A lot of Barrie housing built since the mid nineties has Low-E coatings, and they change how the glass handles heat. Some coverings are rated for Low-E and some are not. We identify your exact glass at the site visit and only quote what is safe to put on it. Edges are left unsealed so the sealed unit can still breathe and your existing glass warranty stays intact.
Interior work runs year round because we are working inside your heated space. Exterior applications need surface temperatures above roughly five degrees, so those get booked between April and October. The quiet stretch is January to March, and that is when you will get the earliest date.

One call, a look at the glass, a written quote. No pressure and no hard sell.
